Today on the Dispotech blog, we will explain how the action of heat and steam can rejuvenate your skin and make it glow and look healthy. You can also try this at home at no cost, but be careful: you must always exercise caution and take special care.

We will tell you all the secrets of heat and steam for your face supported by an article read at

The feelings of well-being and satisfaction that heat and steam create have been known for hundreds of years. Already in ancient times, people used the benefits of heat to rejuvenate their skin and to relax. Today, heat treatments such as saunas, spas, but also a simple hot shower provide numerous benefits for the body.

As we have often explained on our blog, heat is also a valuable ally for muscle pain: a hot water bottle or a heated compress can truly help in any situation and quickly.

Steam for the face: instructions

Hot steam treatments are simply a matter of heating water to a very high temperature. Once it reaches boiling temperature, the water must be placed in a large, handy bowl so that you can place your face over it. Use a towel to help you, placing it on your shoulders and covering your head, to keep the steam on your face and create an enclosed environment.

The removal of skin impurities must be done scrupulously, with a well-sterilised metal extractor and clean hands - the risk of catching infections is present. If this is the first time you have tried this treatment, you can go to a professional beauty parlour that will implement all the necessary precautions.

Before placing your face near the hot steam, exercise caution with the water’s high temperature and place the bowl with the hot water on a large, steady surface.

Keeping your face in contact with the hot steam from the water for a few minutes will open the pores. Afterwards, blackheads (which are easily extracted) and other impurities on the face can be removed. Steam also helps to limit the skin’s production of sebum, inhibiting the typical sheen of oily skin.

If you suffer from acne, use hot steam to reinforce the action of topical anti-sebum and anti-spot creams.

Steam helps skin creams and serums penetrate better

If impurities or blackheads are not a problem for you, you can still benefit from steam to make your skin more beautiful. In fact, steam opens the pores of the face and allows creams, serums, tonics, etc. used daily to penetrate. The skin will appear more plumped up, glowing and evenly toned.

Thanks to the action of the heat, more blood will reach the face, so the body will produce more collagen and elastin.

Moisturisation will also benefit from it. If you have problems with dry skin, try steam on your face. The cells receive a water boost through the action of heat. The result will surprise you: your skin will appear supple, healthy and glowing.

Hot steam on the face: how to do it at home

These treatments are increasingly in demand due to the many benefits we have just described. Steamers are available on the market: they are easy to use, direct steam to the face and do most of the work.

If you do not have a steamer, you can treat your facial skin with the hot towel technique. Simply put a small towel in a bowl, cover it with very hot water, wring it out well to remove excess water (and to not burn yourself!), then gently place it on your face for a few minutes. Check the temperature of the towel with your hands first: if it is too hot, let it cool for a few minutes.

If you do not suffer from any particular health problems such as rosacea, eczema, broken capillaries or facial inflammation, you may undergo this treatment two or three times a week.

Always pay attention to how your skin responds and adjust accordingly.

Oily skin can usually tolerate more frequent steam treatments; dry skin no more than once weekly.

For any information you require or any doubts, ask your dermatologist for advice or rely on the expert hands of beauty centre operators.
